ESEE Knives: Expat Cleaver, ES-CL1

The ESEE-CL1 Cleaver (an Expat Knives - ESEE Knives joint venture) is a beast of an all around utility / camp knife that features a beefy blade made of 1095 carbon steel with a maximum thickness of .188 inch, a maximum width of 3.25 inches, a 6.0 inch cutting edge, Rockwell hardness of 55-57, non reflective black tumbled finish with Expat Knives logo, notched thumb rest for secure grip, and an Idaho shaped hanging hole. The CL1 Cleaver has full tang construction for strength; black G10 scales with chamfered contours for comfort, an extended pommel that is suitable for use as a hammer, and a lanyard hole. A genuine leather sheath is included. The ESEE-CL1 Expat Cleaver has an overall length of 11.5 inches, and it weighs 25.5 ounces. Made in the USA.

From the ESEE website regarding 1095 steel: ESEE knives made from high carbon 1095 steel will rust and stain if not properly cared for, especially on the cutting edge and around the laser engraving. It is the user's responsibility to keep the blades properly lubricated and cleaned. We suggest using a dry film rust inhibitor on the blade. Use Lock Tite when assembling any hardware, such as attaching the clip plate to the sheath.
